My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Booker is a handsome Hound Mix who was surrendered for adoption when his family’s lifestyle changed and there simply wasn’t enough space or time for him.

This sweet boy can be a little unsure around new people — he has what we like to call “stranger danger” — but with patience and understanding, he truly opens up. Booker would do best in an adult household where he can take his time to build trust. He’ll need a few visits to get comfortable before heading home, but once you earn his trust, you’ll have a loyal friend for life.

If you truly want to rescue a dog in need, please consider giving this special guy a chance.

Why not complete an application and schedule an appointment to get to know him?

More about this rescue

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) of Fort Myers is a not for profit animal welfare society dedicated to stopping the escalating cost to impound, care for, kill and dispose of dogs and cats dying for no reason other than having been born. ARC is helping to cut the large numbers of homeless animals which eventually cuts the costs to taxpayers, which to date has reached over half a million dollars a year.

ARC is a non-euthanasia organization. Once we accept an animal for adoption, IT WILL NOT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. We are here to help the unwanted and neglected animals who now face certain death.
