Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Buddy — a sweet, gentle 6-year-old, 24-lb Beagle mix with a tender heart and a quiet soul.
Buddy was recently rescued from a hoarding situation with over 30 other dogs, and he’s just beginning to learn what safety, comfort, and kindness feel like. Because of his past, Buddy is still a bit apprehensive around people and unfamiliar situations — but every day, he’s making small, meaningful progress.
Buddy is a calm, couch-potato type who loves the simple life. He spends his days resting in his crate or on one of his cozy beds in the family room and happily uses wee-wee pads for pottying. He is pad-trained, house-trained, and crate-trained, and he causes no trouble at all.
He gets along well with other dogs and cats and peacefully shares space with them. While he doesn’t really play during the day, his foster often finds toys moved around in the morning — proof that Buddy enjoys a little quiet play when he feels safe and unobserved.
Buddy tolerates being held and petted and is slowly learning that gentle touch can be comforting. He enjoys treats and chews but prefers to savor them on his own. He is not a barker and has no destructive behaviors. He may occasionally growl if another dog gets too close to his full food bowl, so giving him space during meals is best.
The outside world is still a bit overwhelming for Buddy. Elevators, loud noises, and outdoor environments cause him some fear, especially the hussle and bussle of NYC. For that reason, Buddy would likelt do best in a quiet suburban home with a small, calm patch of grass or with an adopter who is comfortable continuing a fully indoor lifestyle using potty pads.
Buddy is a gentle, sensitive soul who doesn’t ask for much — just patience, understanding, and a calm environment where he can continue to build trust at his own pace. There is nothing “wrong” with Buddy; he was simply dealt a very hard hand. With the right home, his quiet love will continue to bloom.
If you have a peaceful home and a big heart for a dog who needs time and compassion, Buddy may be waiting just for you.

PupStarz Rescue is an animal welfare group committed to the rescue and rehabilitation of dogs and cats in public shelters at high risk of euthanasia, as well as those in danger of abuse. We are committed to rescuing as many animals as possible, saving over 4,500 dogs and cats since 2015.
PupStarz Rescue is a foster-based rescue, relying on fosters to open their homes and lives to our Animals. Animals in our care receive proper medical care, including alteration, vaccinations, and microchipping.
Following a thorough screening, our animals are placed in loving, responsible, committed forever homes. PupStarz Rescue ensures that adoptions are an appropriate match for both the animal and their new family by educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a furry companion into their lives.
We are committed to the welfare of our "Starz" beyond the adoption process. We maintain open communication with our adopters to ensure a smooth transition, and offer additional support such as positive training techniques.
Founded in 2015, PupStarz Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)3, no-kill, animal rescue organization.
