My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Post: Meet Hank!
Woodland, CA — This dog is NOT located at the Yolo County Animal Services Shelter.

Hank is a 6-month-old male German Shepherd/Chow mix who is looking for a new home where he can thrive. He is friendly, playful, and loyal — still very much a puppy and excited to meet everyone!

✅ Vaccinated
❌ Not yet neutered
✅ Potty trained
✅ Crate trained (sleeps in crate with door open)
✅ Comfortable with food/toy handling
Primarily an indoor dog
Great with kids!
Has lived with dogs & cats (may chase cats playfully)

✨ Personality & Habits
Hank loves to be close to his person, follow them around, and soak up affection. He enjoys playtime, especially with people — sometimes gets a little jumpy because he’s so excited, but he’s eager to learn. He can get carsick, so short positive car trips may help him improve over time.

Why Rehoming?
The current household’s small dog is not accepting Hank. The family wants to ensure he finds a home where he can feel secure and get the proper time and training he deserves.

Best Match
Someone active and engaged who can provide structure, training, and continued socialization to help him grow into the amazing dog he’s meant to be!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*The shelter is currently open for adoptions by appointment only. Please email us at adoptycas@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting.
For other shelter services, please call us at (530) 668-5287*

To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).

If you have any other questions, please go to www.yolocountysheriff.com or call the shelter for more information.
