My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lux is sweet, loving, protective, and playful with moderate energy levels. He's 54 lbs and fully house and crate trained. He would be best as an only dog but has potential to do well with another dog who is the same size or larger and a dog savvy owner who could make sure slow introductions were done. We recommend kids 12+ as he has not been around younger children.

He is a little shy at first but fiercely loyal and loving once he feels safe.  He is always up for an adventure but also content with a 30 minute walk/day and cuddles on the couch. He loves walks, car rides, Good N’ fun dog bones, and playing with his Kong red and blue squeaky ball.

He is good on leash, doesn't lunge, bark, or pull to get to other dogs. I typically pull him off the trail if another dog is passing by since he does feel protective of his person.

He hasn't had the best past and is cautious of strangers at first: If it's a friend of yours, I just bring treats and have my friend give him a treat and he's fine.

He is a great, protective, and loving companion especially for the females who are afraid to walk/run/live alone. I always feel safe when I have Lux with me.

He is quiet in the home and only barks when someone knocks or he hears something outside near the home. His bark is low and not high pitched.

Lux is available for adoption or you can apply to foster to adopt him to see if he's the right fit for you. He has been professionally trained and comes with three free training/refresher sessions. He’s such a fun boy who’s full of life and love to give!

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944
