My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking for a laid back, easy, lovable dog you have hit the jackpot with Sunshine (knows the name Daisy).  She is a lab-pit mix who loves to sunbathe and get belly rubs. She is house trained and knows some basic commands. When Sunshine arrived at SAAP, she did have double ACL surgery. For this reason, she takes Carprofen once daily. Depending on her daily activity level, this can be given every other day. A 30 day supply of Carprofen is about $20. But don’t let this fool you into thinking that this holds her back. This gal keeps a full itinerary with short walks, long naps and going for car rides with the wind blowing in her hair. She is very fit and very strong! Sunshine absolutely loves to be with her people and would love a home where family is around a lot. In the past she displayed some mild separation anxiety. To help her cope better, she is on a daily anti-anxiety medication (Clomicalm - generic prescription is about $40 per month). This has helped her immensely! In her current foster home, she is mainly crated to eat her meals. Otherwise, she has limited free roam of the house and she has done fine being alone on the days foster mom goes into the office but still prefers to have people around as much as possible. Sunshine is absolutely great with dogs smaller than her and she ignores the resident cat. And despite her large size, she is also great with kids! She adores little humans and even lived with a special needs child in the past (before moving to an area that restricted pit bulls). I cannot stress enough how much she loves her people. When you come home, she will greet you with her own rendition of the Happy Dance out of pure excitement and joy. She will also shower you with some big kisses! Apply today to meet Sunshine and you will not be disappointed!! She is definitely a bright spot in your day!!

Additional adoption info

You are required to sign a legally binding contact on your new pet. As part of that contract, should you no longer be able to keep the animal for any reason, the animal MUST be surrendered back to SAAP. This is to ensure the animal is placed back in foster care while we secure a new approved home for the animal. However, we always try to ensure that the initial placement is best for the pet and your family. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

More about this rescue

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non profit organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of animals that are in need of a forever home. Our animals are fostered in homes where we provide love, food, medical care and socialization until adoption into a new loving home. We educate on the importance of spaying and neutering of all pets.

We ensure all animals have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They are micro-chipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm and anti-flea medications (as age appropriate). They are ready and waiting to start their new life with their fur-ever family. Could that be you?

We need your help to continue our mission. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donation will go towards the rescue, care, and medical needs of the animals.

If you need info on a cat or kitten please contact 859-391-2944
