This freckled sweetheart is Effie, an adorable Cattledog-Pit Bull mix with a gentle heart. Effie came to the shelter as a shy stray, but she's blossomed beautifully in her foster home, where she lives with three other dogs and two loving humans. She's a sweet, affectionate girl who enjoys the company of women and kids, though she can be a bit nervous around men at first.
Effie loves going for walks, spending time with her doggy friends, and snuggling up in bed with her people at night. She's doing well with her housetraining as long as she's given regular potty breaks. Effie is ready to find a patient, loving forever home where she can continue to build confidence and share all the love she has to give!🩷

HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues. HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.
