Meet Sprite! This little guy is just a little love. He is guessed to be about 8 years old and weighs 10 lb. He is overweight and we have him on a diet. He does have bilateral grade 4 luxating patellas, but the vet determined surgery was not necessary at this time as he is currently getting around well and using both legs. Maintaining him at a healthy weight will be critical in keeping his knees in the best shape as possible. He also has some lameness on his front right leg, due to undetermined reasons. He is currently not able to do stairs or jump, so he will need to be carried. We are hoping once he gets to his ideal weight he will be able to work on this, but for now, adopters should be prepared to carry him. His liver values were elevated on his bloodwork, so he is currently on some liver supplements and we will recheck his bloodwork about 6-8 weeks after starting the supplement.
He is a really sweet boy who loves tummy rubs and enjoys attention. He gets along with other dogs his size and cats. We think he would love a home where he can get a lot of attention, but one that isn’t too active or busy.
Sprite's adoption donation of $395 helps cover the cost of his medical care.
Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Reference checks, vet checks, and home visits required. We do not do same-day adoptions. Step 3: A Perfect Pooches adoption coordinator will contact you to review your application and perform an interview.
Step 4: Based on available animals and application/interview, an adoption coordinator will try and match you with your perfect pooch.
Step 5: The next step may include a home visit, meet and greet with family members and existing pets, etc.
Step 6: If a match is made the adoption will be finalized, which includes signing of an adoption contract.
