Meet Peene | Apply Here | Videos
Peene is a gentle soul with quite the backstory. She’s 5 years old and 22lbs - the perfect size and temperament for a cozy Brooklyn apartment (or a suburban home with a backyard!)
In 2023, our team and partners were made aware of an unfolding situation in Paju - members of the local community called a group of dogs, cared for by an elderly woman, the Paju Zombie Dogs. The woman had taken in 47 strays and abandoned dogs. Over time, her attempt at helping became overwhelming and their collective well being deteriorated. Every single dog had Demodex mange - and extremely contagious and dangerous skin parasite that left their entire bodies covered in scaly, blistered skin.
After a few years of rest, relaxation, and rehabilitation, Peene is the first of her pack to arrive in NYC, ready for adoption. Her sweet nature shines in her calm demeanor and adoration for anything soft and cozy.
Peene can be a little shy at first, but as she learns the comforts of a real home she’s starting to come out of her shell. She enjoys napping on anything plush, being a pup burrito in a fuzzy blanket, or just hanging out for a movie. The more she explores the neighborhood, the more excited she gets for her walks.
