My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nova - Go Get Con's Nova
2020 Standardbred 15.1hh Bay Mare

Nova is a beautiful, young, friendly Standardbred.
Before coming to us, Nova was at Therapeutic Horses of Saratoga. Nova was harness trained at one point years ago, but did not race. She was transferred to us because they believed she had the potential to be a great riding horse.. and we agree!

Nova's currently being started under saddle. She lunges well and is working on a canter. We have seen her trot. If she can pace, we haven't seen it yet. She has worn a full English saddle and headstall, and so far has gotten to the point of someone laying on her while being led around. Nova's done amazing with every step of the process and has had lots of desensitization training.

Nova has a great personality with both humans and horses - successfully turned out with both mares and geldings. She adjusts well to changes, and will make a great partner for someone very soon. Could you be that next home Nova is looking for? She'd love to meet you!

** Has a potential adopter, but still accepting applications
Suitable for a trainer or advanced rider working with someone experienced in starting horses.

More about this shelter

Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.

Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.

Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
