My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Murphy is a retired racehorse from Maryland that has transitioned through several homes since the end of his racing career. Along the way, he learned to be a well-mannered and solid citizen. He's a favorite in the barn and is easily handled by kids and beginners.

At some point several years ago, Murphy ended up in a home that let his farrier care lapse and he began to suffer from chronic, debilitating hoof abscesses. His current owner brought him to her facility in order to rehabilitate his feet, and with the hope of using him as a trail horse.

Unfortunately, the owner's situation has changed in recent months and she can no longer keep investing in Murphy's rehabilitation.

He has lots of good days, and with continued regular farrier care and veterinary supervision, Murphy might be consistently sound enough to trail ride. For now, he needs to be kept as a companion until his hooves and sore stifle stop flaring up and creating discomfort.

This sweet gelding has no vices and is right in the middle of field pecking order.

Murphy's Details:
Age: 14yo
Height: 16 hh
Type: Registered Thoroughbred (JC Name: Not for Fun)
Suitability: Companion Only, but Potentially Rideable with Continued Farrier/Medical Support

If you are interested in rehoming Murphy and giving him a safe forever home, please use the "Apply to Adopt" button above to fill out an Interest Form and we will connect you with his owner. Thank you!
