11/5/25 - BIO COMING SOON!

11/9/25 - Hi, my name is Sarge and I was surrendered by my family when they realized they made a jump decision in getting me and then did not have time for me. It’s really sad when you think about it. Getting something and then just discarding it like its feelings, safety and life do not matter, all because someone did not think seriously about a decision before they made it. Well, I’m thinking seriously about the family that I choose. See, this time, I have a voice in this choice.

So, I guess I need to tell you a little about myself. As I said, my name is Sarge and I am a happy, boisterous, loving, smiling, playing, exploring, existence of a four-legged companion. I’m always up for anything. You want to go walking? Let’s go! Down for a snack and nap? Right up my alley. Want to snuggle in with some popcorn and a movie? Now, you’re talking my language. Want to just go sit in the backyard and enjoy the sunshine and watch the leaves fall from trees? I’m your man. Basically, I’m a 100% all around easy snuggle bunny of a pet.

I love sleeping in bed with my humans, I eat with no problem, I’m friendly with all people I meet, I walk well on a harness and leash, I’m not barker, normal inside noises don’t rattle me, I take any medicine fine with a pill pocket and I’m not annoyingly clingy like most yorkies are. I’m not a jumper, so I will need assistance getting on and off the chair, sofa and bed. Foster mom says this is a good thing since I won’t tear an ACL jumping. Low key confession, I probably would jump if I wasn’t overweight. There, I said it. I’m husky, fat, vertically challenged, heavy!! I’m working on it though. I’m trying to eat less, although that’s hard, because I am a chow hound.

I’m in a foster home with other dogs smaller than I am. I’m fine with other dogs my size, larger than me and cats. But I will say that the longer I’m here, I get more attached to my foster mom and can try to throw my weight around by growling at the others at times. Mainly during feeding time. So, I will need a parent that will not put up with my jealously and another dog friend that will put me in my place wouldn’t hurt.

I’m pretty good with my potty habits, but foster mom has pee pads, so my next home will need those. I won’t lie, mistakes do happen, but no one is perfect. I might pick up a toy here and there, but I don’t play with them. Maybe later I’ll learn that they are fun.

So, that’s my story. What’s yours??

More about this rescue

Yorkie Haven Rescue Group is an approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit and was founded in 2006. Our caring volunteers share their many talents to ensure that all yorkies we rescue from "throwaway land" are safe and can live their lives in a loving, healthy and safe environment - a haven where they will be forever loved.

We have a wonderful base of volunteers located throughout the United States, have no paid staff and are funded solely by kind donations from the public. Before any rescue is placed in a forever home, the pup is spayed/neutered, heartworm checked and made current on all vaccines.
