My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet River — the sweetest boy in the whole wide world.

At around a year old and and about 37 pounds he is a ~petite king~.He absolutely adores people and gets along wonderfully with his foster sisters (two 50-pound pitties!). He hasn’t been formally cat/child tested (yet), but we suspect he’d be just fine since he generally moves through life super gently.

River probably once had to compete for food before being rescued (he came to Second Chance severely underweight) so he needs a family committed to showing him he’ll never go hungry again. His foster family is already helping him build that trust — feeding him in a quiet room while crated and offering treats for simple tasks.

River is crate-friendly but would much rather be snuggled up right next to his humans — impressively, he’s also been known to opt to rest in a quiet room away from people/dogs when he’s tired. He currently sleeps through the night in his crate without a peep! He’s also house-trained and does beautifully on the leash.

This affectionate, resilient little guy would make the perfect addition to almost any home. Whoever adopts River is truly getting a gem.
