Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hello, hello, hello. My name is JAIVA (Ava) and here is a little info about me:
Breed: Husky
Age: 4 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: 30 kg
Height: 50 cm
Country of origin: Middle East
Highlight(s): calm, loving, relaxed, gentle, loyal, cuddly, quiet
I am a kind soul, and anyone who gives me love will get so much love back in return.
My story is heartbreaking, but beautiful in it's own way. My rescuer found me after I had fallen into a water canal. I was injured and exhausted and it was pure luck that the water level was low that day. Later my rescuer learned I had just had puppies, but they had been sold, and the factory workers where I lived said they didn’t want her anymore. That’s probably why I am a bit shy with men, since they used to push me away.
Despite everything, I have remained calm, loving, and full of grace, truly a little lady. I love treats, enjoys gentle walks, and once I get used to the leash, am totally fine with it.
I am not typical husky hyperactive, more of a bit of a relaxed, “chill” husky.
Though I am an incredibly gentle husky girl, I can at first be a little shy and might sit quietly in a corner. Inever show any fear-based reaction, no growling or snapping at all. I just need a few moments to feel safe. I am more comfortable with women at first and a bit cautious around men. Not aggressive, just unsure because of my past. Once I feel safe, I come close, wag my tail, and give you sweet kisses.
Being such a gentle, loyal, and calm girl who loves cuddles, walks, and quiet company, I don't need an overly active lifestyle home. Just leisurely sniffing ventures, easy play and lots and lots of snuggling.
I patiently await my second chance at life in a loving, forever home.
I'll be testing the kitty waters this week and will update you as soon as I have results of my foray into the feline world.
Videos to come.
Energy Level: moderate - low

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee.
[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper.

Take the Pet Home
As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
