Hi, I`m Coltrane and I`m so happy to meet your dog! I`m a little black scruffy guy who believes life is better with a best dog or cat friend by your side. Other dogs (and cats) are my absolute favorite, and I`m ready to play the moment I meet them. Wiggles, zoomies, happy hops- if your furry friend is looking for a playmate, I`m already warming up. With people, I can be a bit shy at first, but don`t worry- other animals are a confidence booster. Having a furry buddy helps me feel safe, relaxed and ready to show off my playful, silly side. Because of that, I must live with another dog (or cat) and would thrive in a home where I can pal around with a built in bestie. I`m house trained, know some basic commands and am eager to learn more. My energy is medium/high, which means plenty of fun without being overwhelming. Once my play needs are met, I`m happy to settle in and enjoy being part of the pack. Send in an application to meet me today!

1.
Submit Application

Review our adoption process and complete our new online pet application. If you need assistance, call us or visit our Adoption Center!

2.
Approve Application

If you have had pets in the past 10 years, we will do a vet check and we will check with your landlord or HOA that you can have the pet.

3.
Meet the Pet

Once approved, everyone in your home will need to meet the pet. Also, any existing dog will need to meet a dog you want to adopt.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

We will ask you to sign an adoption contract and pay our adoption fee - a schedule of fees is on our website.

We have one Adoption Center at 1901 W. Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL. Please come in to complete our pet application or fill it out online and we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet our awesome dogs and cats!

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year!

WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time.
