My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beatrice here !
or Queen B as my foster mama calls me.
I am as cool as a cucumber and as laid back as a flower soaking up the sun.
I love all these humans I meet they are so nice and I like to wiggle my butt and show them how happy I is.
I haven't had an easy life but I promise you will never know because I show you just how much love I have.
I may wobble a little on my back legs but that's just my happy dance.
I'm 61 pounds but working on a diet for the holidays so I can look good in my party dress. Yay broccoli time!
These nice humans have been giving me baths to make my skin oh so silky and shiny and
I can't wait for my glow up.
My skin has been super itchy and not very comfortable but I am feeling much better already!
I may be a golden girl but I just want my chance at what I hear is a forever family.
Oh it sounds so nice and I really hope I can live out the best years of my life with this family.
I won't be a bother I promise.
All I need is a place to sleep and a healthy diet and did I mention sleep?
Yes I love to snuggle and snore most of my day away.
I will get up if I have to but only to potty and then I will curl right back up on this comfy thing they call a bed. I just cant't get enough of it.
I'm a very neat girl and I think I would make a great room mate.
Could you be my forever family I have heard so much about?
If so, I would love to meet you!
Make sure to bring turkey it's my favorite 😊

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. We verify all information on the adoption application and may deny an application with any false information on it. A follow up call or visit is done on all adoptions within first 30 days of adoption.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
