My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Haran

Breed: Jindo / Shepherd mix

Age: Estimated 3 years old

Sex: Neutered male

Color: Beige, brown & black mix

Weight: 17kg

Height (to shoulder): 53cm

Rescue Story

Haran was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list — a gentle soul who narrowly escaped a tragic fate. Despite his uncertain past, he has proven to be kind, patient, and incredibly gentle at heart.

Personality & Temperament

Haran can be a little shy at first, but a few treats quickly win his trust. Once comfortable, he allows gentle petting and enjoys quiet companionship.

He’s gentle with children under 13, showing patience and calmness around them.

He sometimes shows his belly even to new people — a sign of his open, trusting nature. While he doesn’t enjoy being lifted, he expresses affection in his own quiet ways.

With other dogs, he approaches politely to greet but doesn’t usually engage in play. He avoids conflict and calmly walks away if another dog acts out.

When he sees cats during walks, he looks with curiosity but follows his handler’s lead without chasing.

Energy Level & Daily Routine

Haran has a moderate energy level — he enjoys outdoor time but settles quietly afterward. He walks well on leash overall, though he can pull a little at times.

He prefers peaceful walking routes and feels uneasy near heavy traffic or loud streets.

He rarely barks, does not guard food, and is completely calm indoors.

He’s house-trained for outdoor potty and shows no signs of separation anxiety — he rests quietly even when left alone or sleeping separately.

He’s still learning to ride in cars and gets nervous when inside a kennel, panting from anxiety, so he feels safest when gently held during transport.

A Gentle Soul

At the shelter, Haran was known for his kind nature — he would greet even unfamiliar volunteers with a wagging tail and a gentle belly roll.

Now in foster care, he’s learning to adapt to home life with quiet strength. During his first week, he trembled in the elevator and felt scared of new surroundings, but within days he began to relax and explore more confidently.

He still gets startled at times, but instead of reacting, he simply stays still and endures bravely. He’s calm around household noises and no longer fears the vacuum cleaner as much as before.

Haran is a truly sweet, patient, and well-mannered dog who just needs time to feel safe. Once he trusts you, he’ll reward your kindness with quiet loyalty and endless love.

Ideal Home:

A calm, patient family who understands that Haran may need time to adjust to new surroundings. He’d thrive in a peaceful home environment, ideally with access to outdoor walks away from busy roads.

Gentle, quiet, and full of heart — Haran is ready to find his forever family who will love him for the tender soul he is.

More about this rescue

Adopt Korean Rescue is a volunteer-based federally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping homeless and unwanted dogs in South Korea find a new home in Canada.

We love Korean dogs. Many of them live in chains, give birth on the side of the road, or wander around with their pups. Some of them get caught and end up at dog meat farms or high-kill shelters in South Korea. They luckily meet us just before euthanasia or after many years of living in dog meat farms. We exist to hold their paws and help them find a forever home in Canada full of joy and happiness.

Our dog rescue work depends on our flight volunteers. They help us safely bring our dogs from Korea to Vancouver or Toronto airports, where the dogs will find loving forever or foster homes.
