My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Meet Cheryl — A Brindle Beauty with a Heart of Gold 🐾**

There’s something truly special about brindle dogs — those stunning, tiger-striped coats that seem painted by nature herself. Each one is unique, like a living work of art. Cheryl is a perfect example of that natural beauty, with her soft brindle fur that glows in the sunshine and her gentle, soulful eyes that seem to tell her story without a single word.

When Cheryl first came to us, she was heartbreakingly thin and clearly hadn’t known much comfort or care. She arrived scared, exhausted, and emaciated — but even then, she never lost her kind spirit. With time, good food, and lots of love, she’s blossomed into a healthy, affectionate girl who just wants to be near her people.

These days, Cheryl’s favorite things are simple: cozy naps, gentle pets, and quiet moments by your side. She greets everyone with a wagging tail and a soft nuzzle, as if to say “thank you” for the second chance she’s been given. Her sweet temperament and calm nature make her an easy dog to love — the kind who will quietly remind you every day how far love can go.

Now that she’s healthy and ready, Cheryl is searching for a forever home that will love her for the beautiful soul she is. She’s proof that resilience can be radiant and that second chances truly can transform a life.

✨ **Cheryl’s brindle coat may be beautiful, but her heart is even more so.**

**Apply online or stop by the Humane Society Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 AM to 5 PM, to meet Cheryl in person — she can’t wait to find her forever family!**

More about this shelter

The Appalachian Highlands Humane Society is a private non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the welfare of all animals. We do not receive public or government funding, and no monies from national humane organizations or county, state or federal government funds. Our work depends solely on grants, fundraisers, adoptions, private funding, memberships and donations. The fees collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home. We value every animal equally and consider all to be priceless
