Phoebe is a darling little Maltese/Yorkie mix who is about 8 years old and weighs approximately 11 lbs. She's sweet and loving and has a calm, quiet demeanor. Phoebe loves to be petted but is not a "velcro" dog and is perfectly fine sleeping in her own dog bed if that's what you prefer. This precious little girl has been very well cared for by a loving couple, but due to their health issues they are no longer able to keep her.
She loves her walks and gives the squirrels a run for their money! Phoebe is great in the car and has even been on plane rides and is well-behaved. She's housetrained and crate trained. She gets along fine with other dogs but prefers mellow ones who aren't pushy.
Phoebe can be shy and nervous around strangers, however she quickly relaxes with some kind words and slow gentle pets while bending down to her level. Small or loud kids make her nervous (me too!) however older considerate kids are fine. Her preference is definitely adults.
Phoebe can be a door-dasher in unfamiliar environments, so making sure your yard is secure and doors aren't accidentally left open is important. She likes hanging out in the yard and chasing the squirrels, so a secure fenced yard is required.
Phoebe does best on a diet of Duck or Venison. Chicken, Turkey and Beef make her itch.
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Phoebe, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

More about this rescue
Our goal is to rescue at-risk dogs and place them in stable, loving, and permanent homes.
Through no fault of their own, these dogs find themselves in shelters or with guardians who can no longer care for them. We believe each dog is special and deserves to be cherished and protected. We are dedicated to helping find these loyal companions a permanent home and a second chance at life.
