Ask any cat; they’ll tell you. It’s a special dog that gets along with a feline. Take Xavier, a stoic terrier who arrived at Muttville matted and on his last nerve yet perfectly willing to mingle with other pups. A shave got him ever closer to his usual self, ready to receive the kind of tenderness and patient attention he deserves. He’s a handsome codger, if a little plump at the moment, ready for a forever home where slow rolling, sunbathing, and healthy snacks – with or without other dogs and cats -- would be just the ticket. Looking for a wise curmudgeon with the heart and soul of a sweet grandpa? He’s standing by.
Here's some notes from his foster:
We have had the pleasure of fostering Xavier for about 2 weeks. What a transformation he has made in such a short time! He came to us so scared and shut down but each and every day we saw improvements. While Xavier is vision and hearing impaired, you would never know it. He quickly learned to navigate our house, even some low rise stairs, though a home without stairs would be ideal. He can see a little bit and has taken to following us around the house and exploring.
What does he love…Treats and Walks! He is a little stout and we have been working on taking off a bit of weight and he is doing great with that. He is a very quiet, stoic little man. We take him out regularly to potty and he is doing very well with that. He sleeps all night in his bed and has had no accidents in the night. He does not have any problems being alone when we leave… just naps in his bed until we return. He is a very good boy!
Xavier has a very calm, quiet demeanor but still enjoys adventures. We put him in a pet stroller when he gets tired of walking…he does so well in it! Until Xavier finds his perfect forever home, we will enjoy every minute with this very sweet, handsome gentleman.
