Morty’s story is one of resilience, healing, and heart. Once part of a heartbreaking local hoarding case, Morty arrived in our care in dire condition — battling pneumonia, dangerously underweight, and suffering from a severely infected leg injury that vets believe was caused by a stabbing wound. But thanks to the unwavering love and dedication of his foster mom, Morty’s transformation has been nothing short of miraculous.
A True Survivor
Morty received round-the-clock care, including daily steam showers, warmth, medication, and all the cuddles he could handle. Today, he’s thriving — full of energy, joy, and love. His spirit is unbreakable, and his tail never stops wagging!
Playful & Adventurous
Morty is an active boy who adores toys (especially squeaky ones!) and is always up for a walk or hike through the woods or reservoir. He’d love a fenced yard to romp around in and would be thrilled with trips to the dog park or doggie daycare.
Cuddle Bug Extraordinaire
When it’s time to wind down, Morty transforms into the ultimate snuggle buddy. He loves curling up in bed with his foster mom and soaking up every ounce of affection. He’s the perfect mix of playful and cozy.
Great with Families
Morty would do well in a home with or without another dog. He enjoys canine companionship but is just as happy being your one and only. What he truly needs is a family who will cherish him and continue giving him the love he deserves.
Ready for His Forever
Morty has come so far — from a life of neglect to one filled with comfort and joy. Now, he’s ready to find his forever family and live the life of leisure he’s earned.

More about this rescue
Fetching Hearts Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer run rescue that is dedicated to saving dogs who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and finding loving, caring homes for them.
We rely on a network of foster families so that each dog that we pull into the safety of our rescue is placed in a foster home and is no longer confined to a life in a kennel.
We are committed to helping dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes by partnering with shelters and animal control services right here in Connecticut as well as with several high kill shelters in the South.
We do a full assessment of each dog's temperament and health to ensure that we are able to find the most suitable home for them. Every dog is fully vetted - meaning they are up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, heartworm negative and micro chipped - before being adopted.
The ASPCA estimates that approximately 3.3 million dogs in the United States enter shelters each year, of which approximately 670,000 are euthanized*. Our goal is to advocate for and provide education about the need for spaying and neutering to eliminate what has become an epidemic of unwanted dogs.*
