My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buttercup is a young beautiful pup who loves to please. She walks great on a leash, knows come and sit and takes treats gently. She likes to chase a ball (she doesn't bring it back...yet) and likes to play tug with toys. Buttercup also likes to just chill in the grass or being a couch potato, too! Ruff!

A team member says, "Buttercup is a delight! She's friendly and funny - she gets the cutest zoomies when she gets a chance to stretch her legs. She will proactively sit in front of a door or gate and wait patiently for you to open it. She also likes to hop up on a bench to sit next to you and give you kisses."

Adoptions are completed on a first come, first served basis. Please note there may be a wait to meet with a pet, dependent on advisor availability.

Please allow plenty of time to meet your perfect pet. Once you have selected a pet, the adoption process will take at least 30 minutes. We do not begin the adoption process after 5:30 pm.

Animal Humane New Mexico performs a background check on all adopters & does not adopt to anyone who has committed a violent crime. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption for any reason.

Please note, visitors must wear their mask indoors at all Animal Humane locations.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year.
