Rosa is ready to roll into her new home! This scruffy pup is 7 years old and 14 pounds. She was found earlier this year as a stray in Central Falls, unable to use her hind legs.
After her rescue, Rosa underwent a spay and had several benign mammary tumors removed. X-rays revealed a hemangioma inside her spinal cord. She's undergone months of massages, laser therapy, and daily range-of-motion exercises to improve her leg's circulation, but spinal surgery is risky and may not restore her mobility. Rosa now uses a custom wheelchair to keep her hind legs active with the support of a cart.
Rosa loves her wheelchair and is always happy to go on stroller rides. She enjoys being held for her leg massages, though we recommended using a blanket when picking her up. Rosa has been living with over a dozen other dogs while in our care. She can be protective of her toys and likes her alone time, so a docile companion would be best.
Taking on a paralyzed dog may be a little more work, but it is definitely so rewarding. Rosa is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines.

Additional adoption info
We only arrange meet and greets with pre-approved applicants.
The vast majority of the dogs we take in and post on our social media will be available for adoption at some point, but not everyone is ready to be adopted right away. We first need to get all of our dogs seen by our vet, treat any health issues, and/or schedule any procedures they may need. Once the dog does not need anything else from us medically, we will post them for adoption!

Vintage Pet Rescue is a Rhode Island based 501c3 non-profit. We protect and advocate for homeless senior dogs in need by providing cage-free sanctuary living for all of our rescue's residents, helping unwanted seniors find love in their final years through our adoption program, and increasing public awareness and interest in saving senior pets.
VPR was founded by Kristen and Marc Peralta (who met at an animal shelter in 2013). Their mutual love for senior dogs is the driving force behind our organization where we are committed to rescuing vintage (senior) dogs from shelters and assisting owners who can no longer care for their senior pets.
Kristen, Marc, and their team of volunteers make sure these animals are provided with love, attention, and medical care for the last months or years of their lives. To date, VPR has saved the lives of over 1,000 dogs.
