My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Daisy Duke — Serious Inquiries Only 🐾🤍

Daisy Duke is a 3-year-7-month-old, 50ish-lb sweetheart who has had a very hard start in life and is still learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and cared for. She is deeply sensitive, very curious, and also very afraid of the world—new noises, new places, new people… it’s all still overwhelming for her.

But with time, patience, and gentle understanding, Daisy Duke begins to show her true heart: a soft, sweet, loyal girl who wants to trust and wants to belong.

She’s wonderful with other dogs and feels more confident with a friendly canine companion by her side.
Absolutely no children for Daisy Duke—she needs a calm, predictable, adults-only home that understands trauma and is committed to helping her blossom at her own pace.

This precious girl isn’t for everyone. She needs someone who truly sees her: a patient, experienced adopter who will help her continue learning how to be a dog, celebrate her small victories, and give her the quiet, steady love she’s never had.

If you believe in gentle hearts, slow progress, and the beauty of earning a fearful dog’s trust, Daisy Duke may be your once-in-a-lifetime companion. 🤍

More about this shelter

The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization dedicated to serving the animals and community of Southwest Florida. We receive no federal, state, or county funding, nor do we receive financial support from the Humane Society of the United States. Instead, our lifesaving work is made possible through the generosity of individual donations, grants, bequests, and community fundraising efforts.

As a no kill shelter, Gulf Coast Humane Society is committed to providing compassionate care for unwanted, neglected, and abandoned animals. We never euthanize due to space constraints or the length of time an animal has been in our care. Our mission is to give every animal the second chance they deserve in a safe and loving environment.
