Wolfie is a 7 year old Shih Tzu with a gentle heart and a loyal spirit. This sensitive boy came into rescue after his previous home was not the right fit. He takes his “lap protector” duties very seriously and would thrive in a calm, adult only home with one special person to call his own who is home often to keep him company.
Wolfie did not do well with other male in your face dogs but does well with calm small dogs his size who are not reactive. He is high energy, and another dog will help him burn some energy. He relies on the companionship, confidence, and comfort that come from having a friendly resident dog. We are requiring that his adopter already have a small, easygoing dog who enjoys canine company.
Wolfie also absolutely requires a securely fenced yard. He loves to run and burn off energy outdoors and having a safe and enclosed space to do that is very important for his wellbeing. He is more active than many people expect from a Shih Tzu and regular outdoor play helps keep him happy and confident. He will run away if off leash and is hard to catch.
He has made great progress with leash training and enjoys walks and little adventures. Wolfie can be a bit anxious at first but once he feels safe his affectionate and devoted nature shines. His favorite place is curled up on your lap soaking up love and attention.

We also offer our Senior for Senior program matching senior animals to people over the age of 63. Adoption fees are waived for this program.

Based in Rochester MN, the organization is totally driven by volunteers.
Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.
Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
