My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

💛 Meet Luna 💛
Brought in by animal control with her baby, this sweet girl has been through more than she can tell us — but she’s handled every moment with a quiet strength that’s hard to miss.

Luna is around 3 years old and has the softest, most patient presence. She walks easy on a leash, listens well, and does great with other dogs. Even with everything she’s been carrying on her shoulders, she’s been nothing but calm and kind.

Now that her baby is safe, Luna finally gets to focus on herself — a warm bed, a gentle hand, and a place where she doesn’t have to worry anymore.

She’s ready for someone who sees past her rough edges and notices her heart… because it’s a good one. 🐾

If you think Luna might be your new best friend, we’d love for you to come meet her.

More about this shelter

A not-for-profit organization, Monroe County Friends of Animals help the County by raising funds to build a new facility for our animals. It is called the Eastbourne Animal Center and has now replaced the old Monroe County Animal Shelter. They provide volunteers, fundraising events, grant writing and more. There is always a need for more volunteers. With a small budget, donations are a welcome necessity. We have developed educational programs to promote spay/neuter and humane care of all animals.
