Thelma von Telgte is a gorgeous 2 year old red and black German Shepherd. Sweet and gentle Thelma is ready to become your loyal best friend. This beauty is friendly with everyone at the rescue. When we have her in the office, she goes up to everyone to say hi and get some attention. Highly treat-motivated, Thelma will happily follow you everywhere for a goody and already knows her "sit" command. She is somewhat smaller in size and a dream on the leash, walking nicely in a heel position and greeting new people with ease. She also shines in doggy playgroups where her tail never stops wagging, and she loves exploring the yard and socializing with other dogs. If you are looking for a friendly, affectionate companion who soaks up all the attention she can get, Thelma is raising her paw. She also passed her first cat test.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
