My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I`m Lover, the playful and curious pup who loves exploring every nook and cranny. He came into the shelter after being hit by a car and sustaining pelvic fractures, making him unable to stand or walk. However, after a few weeks of taking regular walks, his strength and true personality returned. He likes to keep his kennel clean and prefers to potty outside. Lover is also quite the independent spirit and is content to explore and sniff around outdoors. He is very good on leash, take treats well but he`s not really seeking a doggy playmate. Lover is also sweet and friendly, always ready for some affection or a fun adventure outside. He does have some neurological issues that affects his back leg BUT that doesn`t stop him. He can get a little tired on walks and may lay down and take a short break but he`s always ready to get back up and continue on. If you`re looking for an easygoing walking partner, come and visit Lover today!

More about this shelter

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department’s mission is to protect and serve the pets and people of Albuquerque by providing Caregiving, Awareness, Resources, Enforcement and Service excellence.

AWD is always in need of foster homes for our pets who need time to grow, recovery from illness or injury or in need of a break from the shelter. Foster homes increase our capacity to provide services to homeless pets in our community. If you would like to donate toys, towels and milk-bones are always in need. Volunteer opportunities are also available at our shelters.
