My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Rocco. I am a 15 month old Schnauzer/GSD mix and about 60 lbs. What a rollercoaster I have been on! Unfortunately, due to my owner’s significant health challenges, I had to look for a new family. But, I am SUPER lucky. I am in a great foster home where I am receiving attention, training, lots of love and gaining a lot of positive experiences!

I am a handsome and striking boy that is not just extremely intelligence and eager to please, I am loyal and ready to take on a fun and full life with my new people. I am a free spirit who would benefit from exercise, structure and consistency. I haven't had a chance to experience many adventures in my young life but I am ready to run the distance with you and be your loyal sidekick. I have energy but don't get me wrong, I am extremely affectionate and will be happy to cuddle with you on the couch and hang out while you work. I am a velcro dog; I aim to please and you better believe that until I settle a bit, I will be your shadow. I don't want to do anything wrong (even if I make a mistake).

I have been working on so many different skills with my fabulous foster and have had successful meet and greets with new people and dogs.

Some basics - I am untested with cats and would mostly likely love to chase them! I have not been around young kids. Older kids are best due to my jovial nature (and potential herding). Other dogs - sure, with the right intros, I would probably love a sibling. The other dog should have some energy so they can potentially be my playmate.

My humans? My new people need to be my leaders. I seek confidence from my humans so if my handler knows whats up, I will follow and be better for it. My potential is through the roof!

I am housebroken and crate-trained.

I am located in NJ! And…. Because of a very generous sponsor, my adoption fee has been reduced by half
