My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, Im Judea 2-year-old brown striped tabby with short, soft fur and a gentle soul. Life hasnt been the easiest lately. I was found wandering outside and brought to a county shelter because the person who found me couldnt keep me. People think I used to be an indoor kitty and I think Id really like to go back to having a safe, cozy home of my own.

When I arrived at the County Shelter, I wasnt feeling my best my dermatitis was because I had some fleas and I was much too thin. Luckily, I am all cleared up now. Im still a bit underweight, but with some good meals and love, Ill fill out in no time.

I really do love being around people. Im not just a one person catI enjoy company and might even curl up in bed with you. That said, Ive got a few quirks: I mostly only like pets on my head and if I signal Im not in the mood, please pay attention to me, I also get a little impatient around mealtime and may let you know with gentle ankle prodding if the food is taking too long.

On the fun side, Im playful and love batting at mouse toys. I might even surprise you with a game of fetch!

All I really want now is a family who understands me, keeps me safe, feeds me well, and loves me for the sweet, sometimes silly boy I am. Could that be you?

More about this shelter

As many of you may already know, we have a mission: To enhance the lives of Montgomery County Maryland residents and animals through programs directed at education, adoption, animal shelter, and low cost spay/neuter. The AWLMC is committed to ending the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Montgomery County, Maryland. With this in mind, we are partnering with the county shelter to help save the most at-risk animals. Currently, we are only working with cats.

In order to save as many cats as possible, we have opened a no-kill shelter in Gaithersburg. We need your help in the form of direct financial donations and by volunteering your time. Our organization is strong and full of highly dedicated volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, professions and abilities. We are working together to save the lives of cats and kittens, to find them loving, forever homes and to have them spay/neutered. All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.

We are the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
