My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Apollo – Your Future Best Friend
Retriever × Border Collie Mix | Starting the Paws in Prison Program

Apollo is the kind of pup who captures your heart the moment he looks up at you with those big, soulful eyes. With his adorable pink-flecked nose, striking black-and-white coat, and gentle, curious demeanor, this handsome youngster is the full package — sweet, smart, and ready to shine.

He’s just beginning his journey in the Paws in Prison program, where he’ll be learning all the good-boy basics: manners, obedience, confidence, and how to use that big brain of his for all the right things. With the intelligence of a Border Collie and the eager-to-please nature of a Retriever, Apollo is already well on his way to becoming an absolute superstar.

Apollo loves people, thrives on attention, and has a soft, affectionate personality that makes him easy to fall in love with. His trainers are excited to help him grow, and we know his perfect family is out there waiting to cheer him on.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion with a bright future ahead, Apollo is your boy.
Start his next chapter with him — he’s ready to steal your heart and fill your home with joy.

More about this rescue

We are a prison located in Lockhart TX. We rescue dogs from rural area shelters and take them into the prison for training on basic obedience. They are also house trained and crate trained. Training is done by the women inmate handlers. A professional trainer comes to the prison weekly to teach the inmates how to train the dogs. Dogs live at the prison for 2-3 months, in the cells with the inmates, while they are being trained.

All dogs are up to date on their shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, spayed/neutered, microchipped and trained for basic obedience.
