My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a 9 lb. Maltese (possible Maltipoo) with an adorable underbite. I am currently fostered with my bff, Lexie. I love to run at high speed and wrestle with Lexie. I am also very friendly with other dogs. Initially, I am a bit timid of large dogs, but I just need to learn to trust them. With other small dogs, I have no issues. I completely ignore the cats in the home.
Before AHF rescued me, I was not living in a good home. I had never seen a vet, and I had never been groomed. They had planned to use Lexie and me for breeding. After we were running loose in the neighborhood, animal control picked us up, and we ended up in rescue. We needed to have our coats shaved down to our skin because we were so matted. Now, I feel good, and my coat will grow back so nicely! I do need regular grooming, being the breed that I am. In the meantime, you can dress me

I am still working on house training. My foster mom puts a belly band on me, and it`s helping my house training a lot! I`ve been a good boy about going outside. I am the quieter one in the house. I know my name, I listen very well, and my foster mom tells me how smart I am.
Lexie and I also have a special talent, we have springs in our legs. We can jump on anything! I love to follow my foster mom all over and sit on her lap when she sits down. I am a great combination of playful and mellow. I would love to go to a home with my bff Lexie, but if I can`t, I would love to have another playful loving dog in the home. Lexie and I not only play together, we snuggle together when we are relaxing. We`re so cute!
So how about filling out an application?

BTW, if you adopt us both, the adoption fees will be reduced.

This is a Pay It Forward dog. This means the adoption donation of $850 will help to save another pup needing rescue and vetting. If you are interested in this dog, please complete an adoption application.

More about this rescue

We are in need of Foster Homes for our homeless animals!!! Can you help?

What is a Foster Home?
A foster home takes in one of our homeless animals rather than boarding them at the kennel and cares for it until we find a permanent loving home. Almost Home Foundation pays for the all animal's food and medical expenses. The foster home learns the animal's temperament and behaviors. The foster home learns if they get along with other animals. The foster home provides insights on the animals that helps Almost Home Foundation look for the right home for the animal.

Please help!! Just fill out this form and we will contact you or call 630-582-3738 and leave a message letting us know that you are interested in fostering!

We are an all-volunteer, registered, not-for-profit 501c3 animal rescue group. Our mission is to save adoptable dogs and cats from being destroyed by finding permanent, loving homes. For details, visit us online at www.almosthomefoundation.org.

Almost Home Foundation is always looking for volunteers to handle dogs at adoption shows, set up adoption shows, write for the newsletter, photograph events, or foster animals. For a list of opportunities, visit online at www.volunteermatch.org
or www.almosthomefoundation.org.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are a Rescue not a Shelter. This simply means we do not own a building where we house animals. We look for loving foster homes that will give temporary care and love on the animal’s journey to a permanent, loving home. When a foster home is not available, we will board the animal at a boarding kennel.

Our 5-year goal is to have a shelter. This is an aggressive goal that will take many donations and memberships. We will strive for this goal with a great team of volunteers and help from people like you! Please become a member, become a sponsor or make a donation.

Our animals are found strayed and brought in from the police. After being held for 7 days, we evaluate the temperament of the animal and determine if the animal is suitable to be a pet. On rare occasion, we will also rescue animals that are in desperate situations where the rescue makes the difference between life and death. We do not accept Owner Give-ups.
