My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Scarlett is a stunning 8yo Thoroughbred mare. She found herself at Ballyclare Farm as a 3yo, but was "sticky" going over fences. So she was placed with a barrel racer.

During this chapter of her life, Scarlett was not treated well and was in need of rehabilitation. Her current owner purchased her in 2022.

She was skinny and had horrendous ulcers. But after some TLC, a brighter, happier mare emerged and she was shown for several years on the flat.

For the past 8 months, her current owner has not been able to ride her due to lameness and spent over $12k with two different vets trying to uncover the source of Scarlett's discomfort. A nerve block showed her left front foot as the culprit, and subsequent x-rays showed minimal arthritis in the coffin joint, which was not significant enough to indicate a lameness. Both veterinarians concluded that whatever is bothering Scarlett under saddle is most likely permanent soft tissue damage.

This beautiful, young mare is comfortable out in the pasture and has no other health conditions and no vices. She would be a brilliant companion or unmounted partner for someone with a soft heart for big, chestnut mares.

Scarlett's Details:
