Hi there, I’m Hawthorne! I am the sweetest boy, who wants nothing more than to be pet and cuddled and doted on. I love being by your side and soaking up every single ounce of attention that you give me. I know what it means to be a beloved member of a family. I want that again. I hope maybe I can bring a little extra sunshine and joy to your life simply by being your dog.
I’m a handsome, 6-year-old, 73-pound Lab mix, with a bright smile, gentle, soulful eyes, a heart of gold, and a happy, lovely personality. I’m already housebroken, too. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so I hope you’ll help me out with that, by feeding me nutritious meals and helping me stay active with daily exercise. I was first transferred to Wayside 3 1/2 years ago from a rural shelter in Louisiana that didn’t have space for me, and I was quickly adopted by the nicest family. Sadly, they’re no longer able to take care of me. I’ve had a good life, though, and I miss them. Above all else, they want me to find another wonderful family to spend the rest of my life with. That’s what I want too.
My previous family shared so much great information about me. I was so loved and I gave unconditional love in return. I’m a typical friendly, silly Lab who loves everyone I meet. My previous home included men, women, and teens, all of whom I adored. I was happy and excited to greet visitors, simply eager to make new friends. I was well behaved and able to free roam in my home even when no one was around. I was always ready for snuggles and to give soft kisses. I liked treats and chew toys and my favorite blanket. My mom loved it when I would “talk” to her. I liked to bring her as much companionship as she brought to me. It comforted me just to be around her.
Here at the shelter, I’m feeling sort of confused and stressed and lonely, but my sweet and loving spirit still comes shining through, and I have quickly become a volunteer favorite. Th
