BIO: Luke was an owner surrender from TN. He had belonged to an elderly person who allowed him to run the household. In doing so, he picked up some bad habits. With our help he has developed some manners but will need to go to an experienced dachshund owner.
Luke came into rescue overweight. He has lost some weight but he may need to lose another pound or two after he is adopted. He really is a sweet, happy boy. He loves to be outside and will do zoomies out in the yard in the morning. We do know that he does not like going to the vet to get his nails trimmed and a muzzle must be used. We also know that he doesn’t care for strangers. New people coming into the home would need to be made aware of this and not just walk in. Therefore, we think a quieter home would be best for him, one with few visitors. Taking Luke out for walks and to non-stressful environments, such as PetSmart, would be great for him.
If you are looking for a standard then here is your chance. Please help Luke find his last forever home.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
