My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A volunteer writes:
Anu is a petite, all ebony beauty who arrived at our care center with a single piece of information: she allegedly scratched one of her owners "without reason." But as any experienced cat person knows, there's always a reason-we just don't always understand the language our feline friends are speaking. What we've discovered is a friendly, curious girl who may have shown initial shyness but quickly revealed her true nature. Anu greets visitors with enthusiasm, immediately coming to check out anyone who stops by. She's eager to explore, tempted to leap from her kennel to investigate the world beyond-but happily settles for the arms of her guests instead. This sweet girl loves her treats, enjoys cuddles, and is simply delightful company. Whatever miscommunication happened in her previous home, it hasn't dimmed her affectionate spirit or trust in people.Out of an abundance of caution and to set Anu up for success, we recommend a home without young children-a quiet household where communication is clear and boundaries are respected. There are countless such homes out there, and one of them is perfect for this charming little lady.

*****

Anu has made lovely improvements since her first assessment. She now comes forward, lively and, curious and friendly and jumped in the assessor's arms (admittedly in part because she wanted out of the kennel, but she lay quietly in his arms purring and leaning in for cheek rubs. This was repeated once more. She does have a bite/scratch history but the reasons why she was aggressive are unknown and may be connected to some aspect of the prior home that is unknown to us.

Anu interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in her prior bite/scratch history.

I would do best in a home with only adult humans.
