Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This two-year-old shepherd mix comes with the sweetest brown eyes and the biggest, most wonderfully goofy ears you’ve ever seen. Truly — they look a little too big for his head, and it only adds to his charm.
Jack-o-Lantern is a gentle soul who can be a bit shy at first, both with people and with other dogs. His kennel is his safe place, and he likes to take his time warming up to new environments. Give him a little space to sniff, explore, and get his bearings, and you’ll soon see his affectionate side shine through.
Once he’s comfortable, Jack-o-Lantern loves simply being near you. He’s the kind of dog who will quietly enjoy your company, happy to bask in your presence. When he’s in a playful mood, he enjoys stuffed toys, chew bones, and romping around with dog friends. He’s great with dogs of all sizes and is always ready for a game of chase or a friendly wrestling match. Cats, however, are a bit too interesting for him right now, so a feline-free home is best.
Jack-o-Lantern does well with children who respect his boundaries. He’s already potty-trained and crate-trained, and he’s working on his basic manners. His strong food motivation makes training not only easy but fun.
This sweet boy would thrive in a patient, loving home that can give him the time and reassurance he needs to open up. If you’re looking for an adorable, loyal companion with a heart of gold (and the ears to match), Jack-o-Lantern may be your perfect match.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
