Grimson First and foremost, I want you to know that I am a playful cat with a great sense of humor and a charming personality. I love having my butt scratched. I am nuts about playing with fabric mice that I can toss around and catch in my mouth. I like wand toys that move slowly, and then quickly, so I have to chase them to capture them. I have lived with two dogs, and we were copasetic. I had a close cat friend, but he passed away, and I miss him. When the grandkids come over, I tend to avoid them as they are too unpredictable. My owners found me as a stray, and I have lived with them all my life, 8 years. At some point, they had both my front paws declawed. Yikes! But they surrendered me to the HSHC on October 23. I have recently experienced significant life changes, for example, my humans` retiring, their frequent travel schedule, and losing my access to the second floor. These have been hard for me to accept. Since coming to the shelter, I have had visits with potential adopters, and I have been shy with some people. I have been staying in a cat visiting room for a couple of days, and I like this room. The interviewer lady (IL) came to see me today, and we got along like Linus and Charlie Brown. I rubbed against her about a thousand times, put my head in her hands for petting, and I even flopped down on my tummy with my butt in the air to get her to scratch it. We played with a wand toy, and I captured those strings every time! I used my litterbox while she was there and even had a bite to eat. All in all, it was a very successful visit. She called me `charming`! So what are you waiting for? Come and get me! 12-10-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
