Meet Georgie! Georgie is about 7 years old and weighs about 6 lbs. She needs to gain a pound or two. We guess her to be a Chihuahua/Min Pin Mix.
Georgie came to Canines & Kitties when her elderly owner passed away. Georgie has led a very sheltered life and was a companion to the elderly owner.
Georgie is a sweet, shy girl. She settled into her foster home quickly and wanted to explore right away. She was comfortable right away with touching her foster mom - climbing on her, sitting in her lap, and licking her hand - but was nervous about being picked up or petted and would run away or shake. She has made good progress in just a few days!
Georgie is in a foster home with three other dogs and gets along fine with them - she mostly seems neutral with them, but she has shown a bit of playfulness with one of the dogs so far. She would probably love to be the only dog in the home. We think she would be fine with cats too. She is house trained and will use pee pads and will go potty outside. She does not need to be crated. She's a great little eater and eats kibble. She loves treats and will stand up on her hind legs in excitement.
Georgie likes being near (or on) her foster mom and follows her around the house. She is a great work from home companion - she is quiet and doesn't need a lot of attention. She is happy to lounge or trot around the house, sometimes entertaining herself by chasing her tail and occasionally chewing on a Nyla bone.
Georgie will require an all adult, quiet home. If you are looking for a companion small dog who will blossom more and more as time goes on - Miss Georgie is the dog for you:)
Georgie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped.
The Adoption Fee is $375.00
***You must be at least 25 years of age to adopt from CKRescue***
***Please note that our first step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check. Vetting of current and past pets is very important to us, thus we will be speaking with the vet(s) listed on your application to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.***
Our organization cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and/or the general appearance of the animal.

More about this rescue
Canines & Kitties Rescue is an animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, and abandoned dogs, puppies, cats and kittens at risk of euthanasia. Our mission is to rescue animals from local and out of state open-admission, high-intake shelters. Our volunteers are experienced in animal care, proper placement and provide assistance to our animals throughout the foster journey, adoption process and beyond. All animals are cared for in our network of volunteer foster homes.
Our volunteer rescuers work with local veterinarians, foster homes, and trainers to provide foster based homes, medical care and training for our animals until she/he is placed in a loving, carefully screened new home. We are dedicated to helping dogs and cats of all breeds and ages including the older, sick, and injured animals as well as the readily adoptable. We have a special spot in our hearts for pregnant unwanted animals and strive to find them a safe foster home to birth and raise their young. We are advocates for spay and neuter and that each animal we rescue will be spayed and neutered at an appropriate age.
Canines & Kitties Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are an exclusively 100% volunteer based, foster-based rescue with our foster network spanning Northern VA, MD, and DC.
