Meet Moonshine!
Born around November 2024, Moonshine’s early life in Mississippi was tough. He was found living in extremely poor conditions and was even escaping through holes in the floor just to find safety. But despite it all, this sweet boy has kept his gentle nature and lovable disposition.
Moonshine is wonderfully dog-friendly—he lights up around other pups and truly thrives with canine companions. With people, he can be a little timid at first, but he warms up quickly and becomes a total lovebug. Once he trusts you, get ready for kisses, snuggles, and a shadow who wants to be part of your world. Because he can be nervous around children, an adult-only home or one with older children would be the best fit for him.
He’s shown interest in the resident cat and birds, but has not shown any aggression—just curiosity. Moonshine has a good amount of energy during the day and loves playing outside. However, he must have a secure yard and supervision; if he finds a weak spot, he’ll slip out for a little adventure. His foster said even when he’s managed to find rotten boards in the fence and get out, he only goes to the front yard and comes right back when called. He really just wants his people.
We think he’s a Doberman/Lab mix, and his personality reflects the best of both—affectionate, loyal, playful, and eager to bond. He loves toys, treats, and peanut butter, and has a healthy appetite. He appears to be mostly house-trained and uses the doggy door when he needs to go out. He’s a little unsure on the leash, but simply needs more practice. He’s not crate-tested, but he’s been left loose in the home with other dogs and has done beautifully. His only mischief? The occasional counter surfing if he spots an opportunity!
Moonshine is ready for a loving home where he can feel safe, be part of a family, and continue blossoming into the incredible dog he truly is. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a big heart and a gentle soul, Moonshine might be your boy.
