It’s time to meet Bobby!

If you’re looking for your soul dog, Bobby is your guy. He is soft, sweet, smart, playful, fun, and very, very cute.

Bobby is currently in foster and doing wonderfully. He’s housetrained, listens well, walks calmly on leash (and loves to find a good stick to carry), and is loving all the cozy naps and endless toys. He would love to have a playful dog sibling to run around with and a human lap to sit in (he would prefer the lap is big enough for him so kids 10+ please)!

Bobby came in to the shelter at just 4 months old. He was completely hairless, wounded, and sick. He’s been working on his glow up and now has the softest fur all over. He has spent so much of his young life in a kennel, and just wants his forever person to snuggle up with.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 kittens up to 6 months
$120 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note, Adoption and Pet Resource Center lines close at 6:00 p.m. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
