My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet sweet Smooches! She is looking for a forever foster willing to give her the one-on-one love and attention she deserves. Though she's blind and deaf, this wonderful gal does not let it slow her down. She is not 100% at using the pee pads, but she does pretty well if the pad is kept in the same spot. Smooches enjoys roaming the yard in nice weather and can make it to the door and will ask to go outside. She knows where the water and food dishes are and can help herself. Smooches is very friendly, good with dogs, cats, and children. She is an easy going gal who eats, sleeps and does a couple passes around the house each day.

We are looking for someone who can take care of her medical needs on a daily basis. This includes eye drops several times a day (she does not mind them at all), a special diet (which the rescue will provide, you just need to be able to occasionally pick up the food from the rescue), and occasional vet visits to Tridelphia, also covered by the rescue.

Hatton Animal Rescue Foundation's Sanctuary Forever Foster Program:
The goal of the Forever Foster program is to provide loving and safe homes for older, special needs or palliative care animals. A Forever Foster pet is usually a senior pet or a pet with medical needs that generally would not be adopted otherwise – these are the unfortunate ones who are overlooked at animal shelters and are often the first to be euthanized. While you provide a safe
home environment (food, toys, attention and, of course, LOVE) for one of our sweet animals, Hatton Animal Rescue is committed to covering ALL medical costs for the deserving animal that you welcome in.

Why commit to becoming a Forever Foster? Of course, the first reason is that these special animals deserve to live out their lives in comfort and with love. Second, Forever Foster parents will be the first to tell you that the love these pets return is unconditional, and that it is extremely fulfilling to provide special care. The love you provide goes a long way as your forever foster is able to live out his/her best life.

If you ready to make the commitment to become a Forever Foster, please complete our foster application and we will reach out to you to schedule an interview. Please note that opportunities for temporary fostering are available on a case by case basis, but generally, we are looking for forever homes).

More about this rescue

The Hatton Animal Rescue Foundation was founded by Gary and Annette Hatton who saw a great gap in our society when it comes to the care and support of special needs animals and seniors. These animals are the ones most left behind and typically deemed un-salvageable or un-adoptable due to their medical conditions and age.

We foster many different types of animals with special needs and/or disabilities in the hopes that they will one day be adopted into a loving home. If one cannot be found, we provide the comfort, care and forever home they need.

Due to the nature of farm animals being more challenging to adopt out, these special guys typically become our permanent residents!

Our amazing team of volunteers are committed to helping animals in our community. We take our convictions and turn them into action.
