My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello out there!! My name is Yuna (YoungBaek in Korea) and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Spaniel/Jack Russell Mix

  • Age: 2 yrs 1 month approx

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 15 lbs 6.7 kg)

  • Height: 43 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 64 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: South Korea

RESCUE STORY - I was found while waiting patiently for a family at the Gimje City Shelter in Korea. It was getting more difficult for me to get adequate care as the shelter became overcrowded and I was at risk of getting sick as so many other doggos there do. Besides this was no place for me as I really love hoomans and needed some care and TLC! When my rescuers realized this they busted me out of that place so I wouldn't have to spend the long Korean thanksgiving holidays alone. Phew! I am now at a much better shelter but I am still really hoping to find a forever family of my own in Canada :)

TEMPERAMENT - I am a bright, cheerful, and affectionate pup with a playful personality. I LOVE interacting with people and enjoy being around hoomans, often approaching them with a big smile and a wagging tail! I can be a little timid - I do get nervous if someone tries to pick me up and carry me around, or touches me when I'm not ready for it. I can also get scared when I feel trapped inside small spaces like a crate. Since I am timid, you might notice that I'm cautious at first in new environments, BUT I warm up quickly and become very loving and loyal once I feel safe! Even though I can be shy, I am still curious and energetic and I enjoy outdoor activities and playtime with other doggos a lot! However I'm a balanced gal and I know how to settle down well once I have had my fun. My rescuers also say I am intelligent and responsive, making me a good candidate for training!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown. I haven't been around children before!

  • Dogs – Yes! I get along and play with other pups very well!

  • Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – Work in Progress as you can see here. I had never been on a harness and leash before so I am still trying to understand what walking on a leash is (this is hard?!). I am definitely still getting used to having something around my neck and my body and so I tend to freeze up on the spot once a harness is on me as you can see here. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!

  • House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
