My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everybody! My name is Rosie and here is some info about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Jindo Mix

  • Age: 2 yrs 1 month approx

  • Gender: Female

  • Weight: 19 lbs (8.6 kg)

  • Height: 46 cm (paws to top of my head)

  • Length: 65 cm (head to butt)

  • Current Location: South Korea

RESCUE STORY - I was found living a rough life at the overcrowded Gimje City Shelter in South Korea. Even though I was patiently waiting for a forever family of my own to choose me, nobody stepped up. After some time it became clear that I wasn’t getting the appropriate care that I needed at the shelter due to their limited resources. That's when my hero rescuers decided to intervene so that I wouldn’t have to continue living in those conditions. Now I'm in a much better place where I get to socialize with lots of doggy and hooman friends! Although I'm doing much better I still hope to one day find a hooman who will take me home and love me forever.

TEMPERAMENT - The hoomans around me describe me as a bright and loving girl who isn’t shy around people and adores hooman companionship. I love to stay close, while gently asking for pets and affection. This makes me the perfect cuddle buddy! With other dogs, I tends to enjoy my own space but I coexist peacefully without conflict. I can get a little jealous if other pups are getting more attention than me (I'm the star of the show!) so I may push them away and steal their pets heheh. I can also occassionally get defensive around food so it's best if I am the only pup in the house. While I am a calm and friendly doggo, I can be a bit shy around much larger dogs. Overall, I'm a sweet, gentle, and affectionate companion who bonds easily with people!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Unknown. I haven't been around children before!

  • Dogs –  Yes. I know my boundaries but sometimes I might get jealous if I don't get enough attention or pets compared to the other doggos and I may get defensive around food. For this reason, it's best if I'm the only pup in the house.

  • Cats – Unknown. However I do not show much interest in cats when I'm on my walks as you can see here

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – Work in progress. I enjoy going on a walk and I do well with a martingale collar. I love to sniff around (as you can see here) but I know when I have to walk and follow the hoomans. I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!

  • House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.

  • I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 CAD + 5% GST and 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
