🌧️ From storm drain to Stinkerbell—Rain is growing into her own!
Rain has blossomed from bottle baby to teen kitty, and she’s every bit as expressive as she is beautiful. With her satiny tuxedo and sparkling eyes, she’s a conversation partner who will literally talk back—chirps, meows, and chatty exchanges are her way of letting you know what’s on her mind.
She’s playful, demonstrably loving, and sometimes hilariously quirky (yes, she toots when stressed—hence her nickname Stinkerbell). Rain is also learning her feline manners: she’s just begun covering her litter, and she’s still figuring out how to balance affection with boundaries. She may curl up in your lap but prefer not to be petted—unless she gives you her unmistakable cue: a pointed stare that says, *Why aren’t you petting me?* When she wants affection, she makes it crystal clear.
Because she was weaned at only four weeks of age, Rain still comforts herself in the sweetest ways: nursing on a soft blanket or gently sucking on one of her hind toes while curled up. It’s a tender reminder of her early start and a glimpse of her vulnerable side beneath all the sass.
Rain delights in tearing paper, chasing wand toys, and showing off her dramatic play style. She’s stunning to look at and unforgettable to know. At adoptathons, she’s shown curiosity toward dogs without fear or aggression, though she hasn’t lived with one yet—so a gentle, respectful canine companion might be a future friend.
When it comes to other cats, Rain can get along with certain feline companions, but introductions must be handled with care. She currently coexists with several cats to varying degrees of success, yet one resident cat cannot safely share space with her. For this reason, adopters must be prepared for a careful introduction process—and willing to return her if the match proves unsafe.
Because of her intensity, she’s best suited for an experienced adopter, ideally without small children or elderly family members who might be hurt by her spirited ways.
💫 Rain is not for the faint of heart—but for the right person, she’s a dazzling companion who will keep you laughing, talking, and marveling at her one‑of‑a‑kind personality.

More about this rescue
Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
