Name: Benito Best Guess for Breed: Border collie mix
Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of November 2025 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 25 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: Puerto Rico shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here.
Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think he would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Benito is Looking For: Benito is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. He's eager to get his own humans in the DC area - he's a young boy and has so much to see and do. Long sniffy walks, romps with pup pals, and all the adventures his new family can dream up - yes, please! Dog school would be great, too, so he can show how super smart he is.
Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and under his own roof for all his days. In exchange, he promises to always put a smile on your face - and to give so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Benito the one you see by your side?
