My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Romeo — the black terrier mix with the sweetest eyes, softest coat, and absolutely irresistible ears. One look at him and you’ll understand how he got his name! 💛

Romeo is a gentle soul who’s still learning that the world isn’t as scary as it seems. He’s already making steady progress at the lifesaving center, thanks to his doggy friends who help boost his confidence and the yummy treats that convince him to try new things.

He’ll need a safe, secure backyard where he can explore at his own pace and a forever family who understands that bravery grows with time, patience, and love.

With a canine buddy by his side and kind humans cheering him on, Romeo shows more and more of his tender heart every day. This little heartthrob is so close to blooming — he just needs the right people to help him shine. 🐾🖤

More about this rescue

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
