My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Richie is a smart, affectionate dog who bonds quickly with his people and enjoys close companionship. He loves attention, seeks out pets, and happily settles in for snuggles once he feels safe. He did well with crate training in his foster home and was potty trained with a consistent routine.

Richie is energetic and athletic. He is strong on leash at the start of walks but settles with movement, and he would benefit from an active adopter who enjoys regular walks, jogging, or playtime in a securely fenced area. Daily exercise helped him relax and regulate his energy.

In his foster home, Richie was initially timid around new environments but made noticeable progress within the first few days. With structure and predictability, he gained confidence quickly and showed an eagerness to engage and learn.

Richie does best with clear boundaries and calm, consistent handling. When overstimulated, he can struggle with impulse control, so brief, structured interactions and redirection work best for him. Continued training and routine will be important as he transitions into a permanent home.

He may adjust most easily as an only dog while he continues building confidence, though with patience, slow introductions, and management, he may be able to integrate into a multi dog household. A quieter home environment and an adopter experienced with sensitive dogs would likely be a great match.

Richie is a loving dog who wants to be close to his people. With the right structure, exercise, and understanding, he has the potential to be a deeply loyal companion.

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.
