Meet Jilly — A Sweet, Shy Little Terrier With a Big Heart!

Jilly is a 1½-year-old, 22-lb terrier mix (likely Parson Russell Terrier and Wire-Haired Fox Terrier) who came to our rescue when her previous owner could no longer care for her.  She is very gentle, sweet, and eager to please—but she approaches the world with a quiet, cautious nature.

Jilly is a very shy and sensitive girl who needs time, patience, and consistency to feel safe. New environments and people can be overwhelming for her, and building trust does not happen overnight. She will need an adopter who truly understands that her confidence will grow slowly, at her own pace, with calm reassurance and positive experiences. Once she feels secure, her soft, affectionate personality begins to shine.

Because she gains confidence from other dogs, Jilly requires a home with another well-balanced canine companion who can help guide her, model confidence, and show her that the world isn’t so scary. A secure, fenced yard is also required so she can explore and decompress in a safe space. Jilly gets along beautifully with other dogs, especially those with a gentle, low-key play style. With patience, gentle guidance, and time, she will continue to make steady progress and blossom into a more confident dog.

She’s also got a charming little quirk—Jilly is a collector! Shoes and small “treasures” may quietly disappear and reappear in her bed, a sweet reminder that despite her shyness, she’s still a curious puppy figuring things out.

Jilly will do best in a calm, understanding home that values kindness, routine, and patience. For the right person willing to let her set the pace and earn her trust, she will be an incredibly rewarding companion with so much love to give.

If you’re looking for a tenderhearted soul who needs time, understanding, and a gentle hand to help her feel safe, Jilly may be the perfect match.

Jilly is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $350.00.

More about this rescue

Pathways Home Animal Rescue is an all volunteer / foster based organization dedicated to finding the best homes for abandoned, surrendered, and county shelter animals. We stay small so we can devote our energies and resources to all the animals in our care. When we take in a found or stray animal every effort is made to reunite them with their owners. All animals in our care receive proper veterinary care, are spayed or neutered, all appropriate vaccinations, preventative care, and microchip are administered before they are adopted.
