My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***Currently located in Guerrero, Mexico***

Hi there! I’m Linda — and if you’re looking for a dog who’ll love you like it’s her full-time job... well, hi. That’s me.

I was found at the bottom of a hill in Mexico, side by side with my best doggie friend, Patch. We were hungry, tired, and covered in ticks — not our finest moment, but even then, I wagged my tail the second kind humans came near. Since that day, my motto has been simple: give all the love, every time, to everyone.

If you walk into the shelter — whether I’ve met you a hundred times or zero — I will come sprinting toward you at full speed, leap into your lap (or onto your chest ), and give you the most intense face-licking session you’ve ever had in your life. I don’t just love people — I melt into them. And if another dog tries to take my snuggle spot? Don’t worry, I’ll just politely crawl back into place and reclaim my rightful cuddling throne.

I’m a little dog with a big engine — full of energy, joy, and enthusiasm for literally everything. I bounce like a rubber ball when I’m excited, zoom around like I’ve had three shots of espresso … and then crash for about five minutes before I’m back in your face for round two of licks and wiggles.

With my compact size and outgoing nature, I’d make a great adventure buddy — whether it's a hike, a road trip, or a daily run around the block. I’m curious, brave, and ready for anything life throws my way.

I’m learning fast here at the rescue. The humans say I’m smart, social, and overflowing with love (which checks out). I’d do well in a home where affection is plentiful, belly rubs are frequent, and there’s space for me to zoom, cuddle, and repeat.

So if you want a best friend who will love you loudly — I’m your girl. Hit that Adopt button and let’s start our adventure together. I’ll be waiting… probably already halfway to your lap.

With all the kisses,
Linda

More about this rescue

Surfers for Strays was started in January of 2017 by Isabel Velasco and Natalie Ritenour when they rescued 7 puppies and their mother, who had been abandoned at a local hot springs in Lagunillas, Guerrero, Mexico. The puppies were being eaten alive by parasites and their mother was severely malnourished.

Working together the women devised a plan to house and care for the animals and raise funds and more importantly, raise awareness to sterilize pets. They gained enough support in the local community to start helping “callajeros”, street animals in the villages of Troncones, Los Llanos, La Saladita and surrounding regions.

With the help of local veterinarians and citizens, they organized spay and neuter clinics and a program to educate children on how to treat and care for animals. Surfers and other travelers began volunteering and growing the network to foster and adopt animals in the US and Canada. With that momentum and the love and support of key volunteers, Surfers for Strays Inc. was founded in August of 2019 to cover more ground and help more animals escape the cycle of neglect, abuse and abandonment. From 2020-2021, Surfers for Strays adopted out more than 250 dogs and cats to fur-ever homes in North America and paid for more than 3,150 dogs and cats to be spayed and neutered in local communities in Mexico.

Your donations support our programs to sterilize, rehabilitate, find fosters and adopters for animals in need. Your donations also support education programs for the humane treatment of animals in underserved communities. Together we are saving animals and sharing the Mucho Aloha spirit.
