Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Flower, The Heart That Never Stopped Growing
2 years old, Pit Bull Terrier Mix, Female, ~27 lbs, Not yet spayed
Some dogs carry their stories in scars.
Flower carries hers in softness.
She arrived underweight, unsure, and with a past that could have made her wilt.
But instead, she chose to open herself to the world
like a bloom determined to find the sun again.
From the moment you meet her, you feel it.
The warmth. The sweetness.
The way she leans in as if she has been waiting her whole life
for someone to hold her close.
Flower doesn’t just give hugs,
she wraps herself around you like comfort itself
warm, steady, and so full of love
you can feel your own breath soften.
She is the kind of dog people remember.
Everyone who meets her walks away touched
by her gentle spirit and those shining, hopeful eyes
that say “thank you” before you even speak.
Flower loves attention and melts under affection.
She’s easy to walk, though she’ll sometimes give a joyful burst of energy
that reminds you she is young and still rediscovering the world.
She enjoys adventures, little field trips,
and the simple happiness of a walk with someone she trusts.
She previously lived with other dogs
and has shown friendly, positive signs here at the shelter.
If you have dogs at home, a meet and greet will help her feel safe
as she finds her place in your garden of life.
Despite what she has endured,
Flower is a full-time happiness machine.
Her tail thumps with such joy
it feels like she could power a whole neighborhood.
And when she curls into you,
like a weighted blanket,
you will wonder how you ever lived without her.
Flower is living proof
that beauty grows back,
that love can bloom again,
and that even the most fragile roots
can rise strong with the right heart beside them.
If you are searching for a companion
who brings tenderness, resilience, and pure affection
to every moment she shares with you,
Flower is waiting
to take root in the home she’s always deserved.

More about this shelter
In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.
From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.
We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
